
[t.a.]George J. Sowden is a designer with extensive experience in various fields of industrial design: the development of electronic products for the mass market for craft products manufactured in limited numbers, including ceramics and glass, textiles and carpets.
He made his first work experience in Italy with Ettore Sottsass.
He has worked for over twenty years with Olivetti and was one of the founders of Memphis. He was consultant for Olivetti, Alessi, Bodum, Fratelli Guzzini, Lorenz, Memphis, Moulinex, Post Design, Pyrex, Rancilio, Steelcase, Swatch, Segis, Tefal, Telecom Italia, IPM and others.
In 1981 he founded SowdenDesign, where he performs his activities of industrial designer and, with the members of the firm, continues the experimental work and research. The products SowdenDesign have appeared in many specialized books, some of the most recent:

In 1990 his work of experimentation and research was the protagonist of an exhibition organized by the Musées des Arts Décoratifs in Bordeaux and Marseille.
