Round Tray "Dressed" design Marcel Wanders, 2011
Three new steel Trays are being added to the “Dressed” tableware which was presented at the beginning of 2011 and received a very warm welcome. Marcel Wanders’ approach to decoration consists of creating a special relationship between an object and its decorated parts which he tends to keep hidden away, sometimes in areas that aren’t even normally in view at all. A sort of “introverted decoration” the designer’s intentions should be like a beautiful dress which must bring out the contents rather than being overpowering. These Trays, however, in addition to those previously released, are the exception to that rule. They are made of 18/10 deep drawn stainless steel and are almost completely decorated with series’ motif, both on the top and underneath, by means of relief moulding. The Trays’ packaging has been designed by the same designer. (Alberto Alessi)
