One of these is the 'Caccia' cutlery model, the basic pieces of which were designed in 1938 and appeared for a year ar two on the Italian market in a craftmade version in silver. The 'Caccia' set, thanks to an agreement with the heirs of the Castiglioni brothers and Luigi Caccia Dominioni, is now being made by Officina Alessi in the silver-plated alpacca version, after a very careful philological work of re-identification of the original design, conducted by Caccia Dominioni himself, eho has futherome completed the pieces missing from the original project. This is past history. After many years and in the light of contemporary industrial reality and of what the history of Italian design has become, one thing is certain: that in that now distant lively debate on the possibility of producing high quality industrial products, these pioneers of 'Lombard classicism' were right in their predictions.
